　　PART 1

　　Over the last 3 months, students have been working hard in and out of the science classroom to design and create their Science Fair projects.

　　The big day finally arrived on May 28th, when we held our third annual school Science Fair. This year saw the biggest ever turnout, with more than 100 students taking part from Grade 2 to Grade 9 and over 100 parents attending.

　　On Friday morning, the gym was transformed into a colourful kaleidoscope of project boards, beakers, hydraulic pumps, Venus fly traps, and, yes, one small fire.

　　在過去的 3 個月里，孩子們一直在努力設計和創建他們的科學展項目。

　　重要的一天終于在 5 月 28 日到來了，我們舉辦了第三屆年度學校科學展。今年是有史以來參加人數較多的一年，從 2 年級到 9 年級有 100 多名學生和100 多名家長參加。

　　周五早上，體育館變成了一個由項目展示板、燒杯、液壓泵、捕蠅器和小火堆組成的五顏六色的萬花筒。

　　Visiting parents and students moved through the busy aisles, watching presentations and using stickers to vote on their favourite projects.

　　來訪的父母和學生觀看演示并使用貼紙對自己喜歡的項目進行投票。

　　Scientists from the nearby Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering，Chinese Academy of Sciences(IDSSE) collaborated with TIS and SLS science teachers to judge projects and present awards to our excited and diligent students.

　　來自中國科學院深海研究所 (IDSSE) 的科學家們與我校的科學老師通力合作，評判項目并為孩子們頒獎。

　　PART 2

　　In the afternoon, the library filled up with students, parents and teachers who gathered to hear speeches from Bobby Jencks and two charismatic IDSSE scientists.

　　學生、家長和老師們聚集在圖書館，聆聽兩位魅力非凡的中科院深海研究所科學家以及Bobby Jencks老師的演講。

　　Dr. Samik Dasgupta, a deep sea geochemist, spoke about what it means to be a scientist, different fields of science, and how they are utilized by the Marine Research Institute.

　　He ended his speech by encouraging students to pursue their passions, saying, “if you can dream it, you can do it”

　　深海地球化學家Samik Dasgupta博士談到了成為一名科學家意味著什么，不同的科學領域以及深海研究所如何利用它們。

　　在演講臨近尾聲時，他鼓勵學生追求自己的夢想，他說：“如果你有夢想，你就能做到。”

　　Marine biologist and whale researcher Dr. Li Songhai spoke about the importance of science in the community and in the world, focusing on interesting facts about sea mammals and the necessity of environmental protection.

　　He ended by urging children to think more about how to save the oceans and the incredible creatures that live in them.

　　來自中國科學院深海研究所的海洋生物學家和鯨魚研究員——李松海博士講述了科學在社區和世界上的重要性，重點介紹了有關海洋哺乳動物的有趣事實和環境保護的必要性。

　　較后，他鼓勵孩子們要更多地思考如何拯救海洋和生活在其中的不可思議的生物。

　　Mr. Jencks preformed an inspiring and fun science demonstration, telling students that by working together they can achieve great things.

　　Jencks老師展示了一個鼓舞人心且有趣的科學實驗，并且告訴孩子們：通過共同努力，他們可以取得偉大的成就。

　　PART 3

　　This year, the students exceeded the expectations of scientists and teachers alike, with exciting high-quality displays and excellent presentations.

　　At the prize-giving ceremony, hosted by Mrs. Elize Vogel, students were awarded certificates and prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as for the Most Creative Project and Best Display Board. The voting stickers were tallied up to determine the Most Popular Project.

　　今年的科學展上，學生們以令人興奮的高質量展示和出色的演講超出了科學家和老師們的期望。

　　在由Elize Vogel老師主持的頒獎典禮上，孩子們獲得了第一、二、三等獎以及較具創意項目和較佳展示板的和獎品。評委們對投票貼紙進行統計，選出較受歡迎的科學展項目。
